USB A to USB C adapter isn't magnetic (don't know why), it's just a regular converter, it's tiny and convenient to stash in my bag when I just need to connect to my laptop via USB-C. Rectangular USB-C to Magnetic USB-C is a more interesting product. I put it in my dock and now I can just pick up my laptop and the magnet will pop off and just plug the cable back in when you get the laptop back everything works fine. This has three disadvantages. 1. Tapping the cable while in use will disconnect and instantly undock you in the middle of a Zoom call. 2. You have a magnet in your USB-C port all the time (unless you remove it, but it's so tiny I'm afraid of losing it). 3. This magnet is not compatible with Ficabil cables (same brand) that I bought at the same time.
