This is a nice little portable radio. pocket size. Jacket pocket, most pant pockets at back, mesh side panel at back pocket. Manufactured by Sony so you know it's generally good quality. But because they're no longer technologically the "best" (not that they ever really were) or necessarily the "desirable" music listening products of our time, the combination of cheap parts, mass production, and uneven quality control can mean different problems on a case-by-case basis that affect the overall performance of the end product. However, I have not encountered any problems with my radio. I find that the overall range is more than adequate for listening from a room or two indoors and probably up to 50 feet or so outside. Telescopic FM seems to be working great, at least for all the stations I've tried listening to so far, and unlike some people these days, I remember what it was like to actually use the aerial. SPOILER. Nothing has changed. As far as I can tell, the tuner is very accurate. Given the compact overall size of the radio, the tuner is also compact, and adjusting the dial requires a delicate touch. The speaker delivers excellent sound quality for its size. Can get a bit tinny at higher volumes, but that's not surprising for a single speaker of this size. At normal levels, the sound can be surprisingly richer than you might expect. All this again in the context of compact portable radio loudspeakers of comparable size. was one of the main reasons I bought it. Mainly bought for emergencies, power outages, camping, hiking, picnics, etc. This is a great radio at a great price. Some of these other reviews make me feel like people didn't really know what they were buying or expected much more than a basic compact portable AM/FM radio resulting in being disappointed with what they got . Know what you are buying and you will not be disappointed. It's great for what it is.
