The remote controls that originally came with my lighted ceiling fans didn't work because the light on the remote itself stayed on and the battery died so I left the battery after that removed Dim the lights or change the speed of the fans. Secondly, the remote control was not always connected to the fan. Sometimes if I slowly moved the light, it would eventually grab the remote and change the fan speed or the brightness of the light. While I LOVE the way our fans look, the remotes suck. We recently had an electrician hang new lights elsewhere in the house just to update the look. While he was here he looked at Roth + Allen's fans and said he doesn't normally see them as a problem. I decided to buy two new remotes for our fans and have him install them on our old fans. Same problem! Remote controls are garbage! I ended up setting the fans to low and the lights to medium, and the electrician just walked around the consoles and hooked them up to the light switch. Very disappointed with this product (remotes).
