Stars, colors, brightness are fine. It also rotates and you can adjust the brightness. The only downside to this product is that it has a very short cord. We had to get a USB extension to be able to place this in the middle of the room. You can use batteries, but we didn't want to use tons of batteries just because we left them on every night. That's why we liked the fact that it had a cord (at the end of the USB plug you need a plug for the wall charger, but everyone usually has an extra one in the bin, so that wasn't a problem for us). We wouldn't give it 5/5 instead of 4/5 stars because of the short cable.
