We keep our DVDs in these boxes for at least five years. They look sharp and hold up very well. So good, they'll still look new when kids climb in! We generally do not use the back of the case. However, if the DVD contains a bonus disc, it's good to have space for both. It's much more convenient to pull out a DVD box or two than to rummage through the closet. Also, there are so many DVDs in this box that you could get rid of a piece of furniture by getting rid of your media cabinet (if you have one). We actively use two boxes - one for children, the other for adults. Our set-top box is only 48 inches wide, but we can fit a DVD player, satellite receiver, stereo receiver, and two disc boxes without feeling like we're cramming things in.
