We recently bought a new house and barn and our current barn cat moved in with us. I bought this to give her a place to go while we figure out what to do with the other cat. I read reviews about it not being weatherproof, thin etc etc but I gave it a try anyway. Here's what I found: Yes, the instructions say to take him to another shelter, but no, I didn't. So far it has rained and snowed and it hasn't gotten wet inside. Will it last multiple seasons? Who knows but it's been a few months and so far so good, the cat loves it. The only change I had to make was the plastic zip and velcro door, it was a bit stiff and she was afraid to press it. I left the back intact because that's how it goes so it's a bit more airtight, I took the front ✂️ and cut a few slits about halfway through to make it easier to pass through and she started using it right away . I hooked it up outside when it dropped to teens and single digits until there were no more issues. Remember that the animal must lie on the pillow to be warm. So if you plug it in and expect it to just be warm, it's not going to happen. For the price I think it's worth it, even if it doesn't last insanely long, I think the manufacturer might add an indication that it's not weatherproof because it hasn't been tested like that, but so far proven at least hardy and weatherproof .
