Review on Colorful PU Band Kids Watches for Girls Ages 5-7: Analog Wrist Watch with Protective Box for Boys & Girls by Ronny Welch

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It is best to start with an analogue watch for a child.

Nice little watch, nice small. I had previously bought a digital watch for my granddaughter and soon learned that while she could read it easily, it wasn't very good for learning to tell the time. Yes, it's easier for them to read a digital clock (it's just numbers) than an analog clock, but that doesn't help as much as you might think. She can always tell me what time it is, but the problem is that simply reading a few numbers off the watch doesn't teach her anything about the length of the interval. When I asked her a "now and later" question, such as "how long before your dance class starts," I could see her confusion as she tried to calculate the interval between "now and then." Believe it or not, that's a really tough question for a kid who can only work with a digital watch. Too many numbers, hours, seconds and minutes, the numbers keep changing even when she looks at them and it's really hard to understand. Seeing her problem, I bought her this nice little analog clock and got the digital one. She wasn't happy for a while, didn't understand what arrows and numbers were, so it took about a week to figure out what, why and how time flies, with the benefit of being "close enough" with a quick glance " to be that gives you analog. . All she had to do was know what the hour and minute hands were doing (ignoring the second hand), and soon she was able to give me a quick and fairly accurate answer to the question "How long?", an answer that she could never give with your digital watch. The watch itself is cute, attractive and appears to be very reliable. I don't really like the plastic strap, the hole spacing isn't quite right for them and feels a bit sticky, but it's damn cheap, runs well and accurately, and a strap no worse than the one on their digital one can be replaced. I think they will serve her well over time as she has been asked where she got them from and how much they cost by many of her peers and even some older women who thought they were "too sweet". Now this is her favorite watch, she doesn't use the number at all because she says it's too confusing. She could always say "the time is now" accurately, but she could never figure out "what time it is". With analogue recordings, all she had to do was see where the arrows were pointing, and that made the question of "how long" much easier.
