I have to say the purchase of this item started when one of the joysticks on my Elite controller broke and I had to take it apart in hopes of being able to fix it. I was lucky, I managed to get it back in shape with a small drop of impact glue. Since I had to void Microsoft's 90-day "warranty" (I bought the controller almost two years ago), I decided to buy these gold accent rings and profile button to give it a little personality. Think of it like a band-aid or scar after major life-threatening surgery. Installation is very simple: 1. Remove the oars, sticks and crosses. Remove the battery cover and batteries.2. Using a pry bar or credit card, work your way to the edge of the rear grip panels to remove both. The side panels are taped in place, so open them securely but with patience.3. Using a Torx 8 screwdriver, remove all 5 screws from the back of the controller (2 on the edge of the handles, 2 on top and one under the sticker in the battery cover). 4. Remove the controller faceplate and pry off the black rings to replace with new ones. Be careful with the profile button as it will pop off when the controller faceplate is removed.5. Reinstall the profile knob and faceplate with new rings, reinstall the screws and handles.6. Did! :) Only criticism: the T-8 screwdriver in the kit is nonsense. I would buy a better T-8 to work with these props with ease. Also, I'm really excited to show off my Elite controller. until it dies again.
