Some issues with this docking station

So I didn't realize when ordering that there is no power adapter at all, you need your own USB-C power adapter, which offers the maximum power is 60W and that it can't be detected because you expect the dock to work. Let me explain the latter a little better. There are so many USB-C based "hubs" out there that basically have everything including HDMI, Ethernet, multiple USB ports and so on. I know this because I have two and have used them very little. I was expecting to have a dock that would work better for keeping everything plugged in and then periodically unplugging the USB-C connection back and forth. I've never been able to get this dock to work other than a USB hub for both HDMI and USB connections. It won't power my laptop at all, even with the AC adapter, which I assume is rated at 60W or 65W. Either way, it's essentially a big, cylindrical USB-C hub that's about the size of a 12-ounce can of Coke. Maybe that's what you want, and for that I suppose it's great. I checked most of the ports on this and they worked great for me. My biggest disappointment comes with the no questions asked power supply, in case you haven't noticed! Seems reasonably well made, cheap for a docking station and beyond my aforementioned disappointment has worked well for me. It is actually used with an old laptop and an old 24 inch HDMI based monitor.

Pros
  • Ultra-fast pass-through charging
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
