I chose these boots because I was trying to stay away from boots with characters from TV shows or movies and I thought the spring loaded upper would help to keep the water out when my son jumps in puddles. There are no laces to adjust, though, instead there's a slim elastic strap wrapped in a gray waterproof fabric. It was easy enough to put my son's feet in a boot but forgot to put his pants in and after an hour of using a tight elastic on his leg he developed a red spot which went away after a couple of hours. This useless and painful rubber band has replaced the rather comfortable bucket handles. return for a refund. The delivery was fast and the return was easy, hence the 2 stars.
