This is really useful. I have many different types of pencils and I sharpen them very sharply. They help me keep my carefully sharpened pencils sharp in their case as I go to and from school. .However I have to squeeze them in the slots to make them a little smaller so they stay on my charcoal pencils. And they are not suitable for very large pens. 1) Take an x-acto or utility blade, insert it into the slot and twist slightly to offset the edges a bit. 2) Then press slightly on one side with your thumb, fold one edge inwards and then push the edges together a little to reduce the circumference. 3) It comes out of the round shape and overlaps a bit. 4) Put it on a non-sharpened pencil. (so as not to break a good point) of the type I would like it to fit by rotating the cap in a direction that creates a sharp edge rather than cutting into the pencil in the process. (Experiment, you'll see what I mean. There are only two options :-p ) This step expands the thin metal into a perfect fit. Sometimes the fit needs to be reset, just repeat steps 2-4 above as needed.
