If you've never worn a Chaco I wouldn't recommend trying a few different sizes and styles before settling on one. The difference between Z/2 and ZX/2 is like day and night. I first ordered a pair of ZX/2 sandals and to be honest I don't know how my big toes are still attached. It was like all the tension from the dual straps was isolated from the socks no matter how much I adjusted them. No bueno. I thought the Z/2 sheepskin coat would be the same, but decided to give it a try anyway. admonishment This is what a sheepskin coat should feel like. The single strap toe-loop gives your feet a little more stability than the original Z/1 (no toe-loops) without the ZX/2's toes pinching. One final tidbit I learned from a friendly REI staff member: if you wear a size 6W, you can wear a child's size 3 and save a few bucks! The kids sandals have slightly less arch support (great if the adult version's arch support is too supportive), they are slightly wider and made from the same material as the Cloud sandals!
