The instructions on the DIY website were not as comprehensive as they could have been. Found the best video on YouTube that walked you through the steps very clearly. The 13-minute video was titled "BMW F Series Shift Knob in My 3 Series DIY Installation!" Yellow-Orange-Red-Brown goes on the right side of the gearbox and Blue-Purple-Green goes on the left regardless of which Color that you associate with in gear. This shift knob also works on the 2012 328i coupe. You don't need any tools to remove the gear cover, you can remove it by simply pulling on the inside of the cover. The only problem is that the shift lock is a bit flimsy. Also, it worked as advertised.
