I am a dance studio owner and also a mother to a 5 year old tap dancer. The reason I chose the Capezio over the Bloch tap shoes is the sock shape. My daughter's toes are straighter from thumb to pinky meaning they don't taper diagonally much. My daughter loves the comfort and the shape of the Capezio shoes makes them more spacious. The shoes don't open up and aren't too big, they just aren't tight on the toes. If you have a very narrow foot with pointy toes, the Bloch will fit you perfectly. Otherwise everyone else will love Capezio! Size: The Tanzshop website states that these shoes should be ordered the same size as street shoes. In our case I ordered half a size up both times and it worked for us. Half the size gave her little room to grow. I didn't want to buy another pair after two months when her foot had grown. If you're a dance teacher, a little more space is fine, but you don't want your foot to slip. Children can also wear socks to fill in the extra space for a while, and when they grow up wearing shoes, they won't wear socks anymore.
