Review on Invicta INVICTA-9937 Men's Pro Diver Swiss Automatic Watch: Coin-Edge Elegance by Jim Acquista

This is the third Invicta watch I have bought in the last 7 or 8 years. My favorite watch before purchasing this Invicta 9937 was the Invicta Speedway, made in Switzerland which unfortunately Invicta no longer makes. I have owned many different watch brands over the years; an Omega "Moon Watch" chronometer from 1969, a Rolex Submariner from the mid-1980s, recent Breitling, Cartier Roadster and Vacheron Constantin watches. Let me say the quality of this watch is amazing for the price I think. If you're looking for a Rolex Submariner that looks the same, but not for the retail price of $8,550, then this is the watch for you. The diameter and depth of the watch is just right for a man of average or above average height and weight when buying as a gift; That means the watch isn't as big and chunky as some Invicta models. The edge of the coin and all surfaces are just as well finished as some of the watches above that are much more expensive, which belies the price of the watch. The bracelet's link tolerances, which one reviewer complained about, are also exceptionally tight, as is the locking mechanism, especially for a watch in this price range. The black dial with luminous white hands and hour markers makes it easy to read the time. The movement itself is precise and has a rotating hand, as is usual with automatic watches. As for the self-winding, which one reviewer complained about, even with infrequent wear the watch goes four or five days unworn and keeps ticking without requiring any further winding or wrist movement to start. The black outer dial is well finished and features a precise click mechanism that rotates perfectly "counterclockwise". The stock mechanism, which I found a little flimsy on other Invicta models, is solid on this watch; maybe because of the Swiss movement. The date magnification window makes it easy to see the date even for a person with less than perfect vision. My only suggestion for improving the Invicta is to improve the luminous hour markers and hands; This is a nitpick, however, as these watches can sell for $1,500 and still have value. Highly recommended whether as a gift for yourself or a gift for a loved one - the watch comes beautifully packaged in a box with Invicta's trademark yellow display. Crate.
