I rarely find time to write reviews (especially attaching pictures), but I wanted to do it in this case, hoping that my review for would be useful to someone. My daughter has just turned eight and wanted a "big girls room" for her birthday. A lighted canopy over her reading chair was a priority. After reading dozens of reviews of different headlights, I settled on this one. I am very satisfied despite two reviews that made me a bit nervous at first: 1) The cable is too short. I understand why people thought that, but these lights are for curtains. We love that the light bar easily attaches to curtain ties making it easy and convenient for my daughter to switch from constant to flashing light etc. It WORKS for us as designed (see image); 2) Easily confused. I'm glad I read this review. We hung the lanterns from the canopy with hair clips (see picture) and only loosened the individual strands once everything was attached. For a perfect result, we then simply loosened the individual posts that had fallen to the ground. If you're buying these lights, this is my best advice: DO NOT untie each thread until you've secured them to the wall, shed, curtain, or wherever you are going to use them. I highly recommend this product, especially for cornices and awnings.
