Not Right For Me - my new review

Let me start off by saying I’m pear-shaped (38/32/44) with a short torso, so the issues I had with this dress may be unique to me. Hurray for having an odd body shape!I bought this dress because I was looking for something light to wear to the office during the warmer months, and this dress does meet that need perfectly. The fabric is light and soft to the touch, and not overly clingy. However, it’s the fit and construction that leads me to the three star review.I went with the XL due to my 32” waist, but found that the top half of the dress is a bit too big. This meant that the straps were loose and the fabric bulged around the arm holes. I tried to fill out the extra space by wearing a push-up bra, but it was still too loose. A simple kimono style coverup "fixed” this issue for now - I'll probably be taking in the straps about a 1/2 inch to make for a tighter fit later on.Moving on to the weird seam across the middle of the dress. I knew this was a thing from the photos, but had hoped it wouldn’t be quite so noticeable. I was wrong. Thanks to my aforementioned short torso, the seam sits just above my navel rather than at my natural waist and makes for an odd break in the overall flow of the dress. Something that I feel would be even worse had I gone with a patterned dress instead of the solid black. Again, this is probably an issue unique to me.Will I wear this dress? Yes. Will I buy this same dress in additional colors/patterns liked I had originally planned? Absolutely not. Sadly, this just didn’t work out for me like I had hoped, but maybe you taller gals will have better luck.

Pros
  • The dress is perfect for a music festival
Cons
  • Material attracts static cling
