So most importantly, solar panels seem to keep the job going day in and day out. It was in the farthest corner of my yard, there was no electricity nearby, and it's been working fine for well over a week. That alone is amazing and puts this device in a category of its own. You still need Wi-Fi to access it, but this issue is easier to fix. Oh, and it's November and we have less than 10 hours of light. The resolution of the camera is excellent and the fact that I don't have to pay a monthly cloud fee is *surprising*. Video fragments are automatically uploaded to the cloud when moving and you can download and/or delete them. The sound quality is pretty good too. Motion detection was almost too good; I had to turn it down because the wind blowing the leaves activated the "High" setting. The low level was perfect for the area I was monitoring. The mobile app is a bit clunky; But if you give yourself a few minutes, you'll be fine. Something would definitely sparkle here. I was just looking at the iOS app. So if you don't have electricity nearby and the sun is shining, that's no problem. This actually opens up a whole world of possibilities (different corners of your roof, garden, etc.). I'm not using a mount yet because I always want to try different places and angles (I have critters that keep invading my chicken coop and garden and I want to see what it is). Finally, the company's email support was really great too. Even on the weekend they helped me to figure out some things. The only downside was that the micro SD card had to be formatted to FAT32. This was a minor issue, especially on a Mac (I ended up using my son's computer), but once fixed, it's solved for good.
