Instructions as pictures and in a very small booklet. It's a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, but after a process of elimination, trial and error, we put it together. Lanyard-type fasteners are made of a lightweight metal pot and are easy to break. Some of the screw pilot holes didn't line up and we had to make our own starting holes, also the wood is soft and doesn't hold screws well so we used wood glue to make assembly easier. Put together it's a cute little table, not sure if it's worth the money we paid for it but still a lovely table. It looks like a piece of blue and yellow furniture from a Swedish company, but the instructions were terrible. I wouldn't buy anything else.
