Many connectors in computer accessories and peripherals

I have connected many things to it and it works fine. Sometimes when I restart the Mac it's connected to, I have to unplug it and plug it back in before the Mac recognizes that it's plugged in. After that it works fine even if I put the computer to sleep and wake it up.
