Review on Garmin Vivofit Jr Kids Fitness Tracker in Green Digi Camo with 1-Year Battery Life by Josh Elkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great design and great features!

I bought this two weeks ago for my 8 year old's birthday. Garmin Vivofit Jr. turned out to be more amazing than I expected! The day after her birthday I ordered the Vivofit Jr. for her children aged 5 and 10. Every kid is really interested in all features, steps, daily activity time, chores done, coins received, timer and stopwatch. Before bed, my kids like to read the trail, the next clue, or the animal. We sat down as a family to award prizes. On Fridays, when they have earned enough coins, they can receive pocket money or save coins for other rewards. My five year old is learning higher numbers and reading times. My 8 and 10 year olds were asked to use the treadmill (on rainy days) or bike to complete their daily goals. They get really excited when they double or even triple their daily activity goals. Their housework gets done faster (and correctly), they ask for more opportunities to help around the house. As a teacher, best pedagogical practice is for students to set their own goals and determine their consequences (both positive and negative). Vivofit Jr. allows us to do this with simple controls and fast feedback. I wish there was an instant and accessible system to track positive behaviors like this that I could use in school with my students. When my mom and my teacher friends saw the watch and app, they bought the Vivofit Jrs. for their children. Friends of my children ask their parents about it. It's very good that Vivofit Jr. fits with straps for Vivofit 3. As they get older, changing the strap doesn't look childish. I write very few reviews. This is such a cool product with useful, practical features that I had to write a review.
