I have this exact model of Sony MDR-W08L headphones and have loved them for years. They are very comfortable on the ears and allow you to listen to music but still hear things outside of it. They used to be called "open-ear headphones" or something like that because of this feature. Mine are quite old and since nobody seems to make this style that I know doesn't hurt my ears I bought this new pair as a replacement. I don't like earplugs that don't fit over the head and don't hold them up. And most headphones hurt in the ear, they just don't fit. But it's amazing. My only criticism is the packaging. I thought I was buying a pristine new pair just made but the packaging is really old and unsealed. As far as I know the headphones aren't new, I can't tell. They don't look used, but neither do my others. The date on the box is 2007, the box is really crumpled. But it's the original packaging and even the instructions, so I'm wondering if it's been lying around somewhere for all these years.
