After purchasing Nikon D5000 12.3MP DX DSLR with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens and 2.7" LCD vari-angle and because you didn't take it was too big and realizing that I'm not a professional photographer I sold it and relied solely on my iPhone 4 for my camera. It was fine for a while, but the iPhone 4's camera was too slow, cumbersome to use, and the image quality was okay but poor in low light. Canon PowerShot SD4000 IS Digital Elph is just what I needed! It's tiny, fast, looks tight and takes really good pictures. What matters is that thanks to its f/2. 0 aperture and the backlit sensor is not afraid of the dark. So it works really well in low light, making party photos look more natural and not have the extremely bright subject/dark background that you get when using flash. It's amazing how dark a room can appear to your eyes, and the SD4000 captures images that look much brighter, even if the image becomes noisy and grainy when zoomed in. Of course, my old Nikon D5000 took much more detailed and ultra-smooth pictures. , even in low light but now I feel like the best camera is the one you have with you and this camera is not bad at all. Features I like about the SD4000 IS: - Low light performance - 240 fps slow motion mode - 720p HD video with stereo sound - 8.4 fps in burst mode - HDMI output - Beautiful body with grippy texture - Mine was made in Japan (wow!) so far they are bragging Intending to spend $3000, I understand the new SD4500IS came out with 10x zoom, 1080p and a dedicated video button, minus the f/2.0 lens (thanks to the guy who updated his review!), but I found it it was just great how the SD4000 looked better and was cheaper AND it has an f/2.0 aperture lens. Well I've already placed my order and I'm too lazy to exchange it. If I were to add something it would be a dedicated video button and the HDR capability, which is all the rage right now. Overall, the SD4000 IS has good image quality, is compact and very easy to use. it goes from 3/3 bar to a flashing 1/3 bar "low" without warning. It's like a fuel gauge that goes from full to empty without any intermediate steps. I would like it as a percentage. On the other hand, videos captured in low light play fine on the camera but are almost completely dark when played back on my Mac or even my PC, but it could be a monitor setting. Still happy. but almost completely dark when played on my mac or even my pc but it could be a monitor setting.
