Review on Katahdin Gear Gauntlets Wire Opening by Darnell Nahabet

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The 2007 BMW R1200GSA is good for motorcycles and power athletes

This review is for the above machine only. Three stars does not reflect the great quality of this item, it's just that these handlebar couplers are a generic item by default and may fit another type of bike perfectly. They fit the GSA with handguard, but ONLY ONLY! My bike had extra Wunderlich windshields fitted to the factory guards and had to be removed. If you decide to wear these gloves on your motorcycle, keep the following precautions in mind. You must have perfect muscle memory for the location of the controls because once the couplers are in place there isn't much room to maneuver inside. If you wear heavy winter gloves with inner protection they won't fit you (glove down), if you have gloves where the padding has condensed over time (glove up) that's no problem. The starter button has to be operated from the outside of the glove, the switch itself doesn't push, only the available space inside is too narrow for a gloved hand at this moment. Due to the OEM arm guard, the glove doesn't fully cover the wrist, but when I was riding in the 26 degree Fahrenheit morning, my fingers and wrists were warm, and there weren't any drafts from the Velcro either. Pros: They will fit a 2007 GSA with handguard. They keep your fingers and wrists warm. Installed in five minutes. The wired opening is a great feature, both hands can be easily removed and replaced. Aesthetically, they are not so uncomfortable for the eyes. All switches. Also, the ABS and starter switch can work normally. Cons: They're cramped. There is less space on the throttle side than on the clutch side. You as a driver must be sure that you can operate the switches with your eyes closed! The starter button can only be operated from the outside of the glove. Thick winter gauntlets didn't suit me. (although the mittens are warm, lighter gloves may give better results). Hope the above helps. I bought them knowing that at the advertised price if they didn't fit I wouldn't invest so much to be disappointed. But I was pleasantly surprised and would buy it again at any time. Updated 03/11/19. After just driving 750 miles from Albuquerque, New Mexico to San Antonio, Texas in cold, windy weather, I gave them another star. We kept our hands very warm, and they seemed to take a lot of wind away from the forearm, which added to the stability I wasn't even thinking about.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Hard to say
