This is God sent for me

This brand was recommended by my physical therapist when I asked if I could go back to the side stirrups I wore as a kid. I had polio at 13 months and had 15 reconstructive surgeries that resulted in my left ankle fusion. Arthritis has developed in the joint and the impact on the joint is very painful and limits my ability to go outside and do therapeutic walking. This is why I asked again about braces with iron bars. I have a molded ankle/foot/shin brace, but it doesn't cushion shock or stabilize the ankle enough to avoid pain. I live at the bottom of a steep hill on a country road. The ascent increases, but the increased stress on the joint on the descent made it impractical for me to be able to walk outside. I didn't want to pay close to $200 for a pair of shoes, although the therapist thought the outsole design would handle impact issues as well as the iron bars on my baby brace. The price dropped $40 and I decided to give it a try as there were money back guarantees if they weren't happy. I cannot offer enough superlatives to praise these sandals as vehemently as I would like. They work so well and have enabled me to walk two miles without much pain, even down the steep slope that I live at the foot of. The straps are snug, but they still hold up, although I have to wear a DonJoy ankle brace to stabilize the support. The corset keeps the joint stable, but the shoes do an excellent job of suppressing pain when the joint hits. I will be looking for another pair of lace up shoes for the colder months here in Wisconsin.
