I'm a big samba fan and have been wearing them for years. About two years ago I ordered a pair from Revain and they were great - the same genuine product I ordered from Adidas' corporate website. However, I wasn't that excited this time. Immediately upon opening the box, I found that these were not the shoes I had previously ordered, even though the page stated that I had ordered the exact same item before. Appearance: Glue around sole attaching it to leather boot/sock. The shoe is sloppy, clunky and visible. The sole itself is a completely different "rubber" color than the previous pairs I've had. I understand that the color changes over time, but I've never had a pair with a very dark brown sole. Some lace eyelets are not fully pierced indicating poor factory quality. Most likely I would have had to pierce the unpunched eyelet with a knife to make room for the laces, but as I was planning on returning it I didn't. After all, the leather looks incredibly cheap and plasticky. Fit/Feel: As soon as I tried the shoe on, I realized that it's not the shoe I've been wearing for years. I've ripped up a lot of Samba pairs so I know they fit a little differently when new, but these looked like hard, sharp plastic socks. I've worn the same shoe size, 8.5, for 20 years, and the arch of this shoe didn't fit the same spot on my foot as all my others. Also, they seemed tighter (mostly on the pinky) than my other pairs. I have rather narrow female feet (that's why I like this style of shoe), so I rarely find shoes that are too tight for me. These shoes definitely look fake. I will just pay the extra money and order directly from Adidas.
