Seems very well made and it's a much better way to run filter media packs (I have dental floss, purigen and a mix) (from Carbon and Phosguard) I'm still experimenting with a skimmer (which raises the water level in the main part of the aquarium) but I believe an improved, higher power pump is needed to use this basket effectively as the water flows only weakly between the wall of the grate and the basket (bypassing your medium). I wouldn't call it a design flaw of the basket. That's how the tank is designed, and I don't think InTank could do anything to improve it drastically. Upgrading the AQ600 pump really helps with this, and I also use a small piece of plastic (ironically a circular flow control that needs to be removed from the AQ600 to allow for this when it fits) wedged between the outer glass of the filter compartment and the non-inlet side of the basket to push it as close as possible to the intake grilles. A higher water level in the compartment also seems to make sense. If water is a few inches lower in the compartment, it means that gravity wants to pull the incoming water down immediately, while if it's higher than the inlet side of the basket, it seems to have a better chance of entering it, instead of bypassing it. The downside to this is that when you use the filament on the top tray, it's completely submerged in water.
