I took this camera on a photo safari in South Africa recently. At first, my fellow travelers scared me with huge SLR cameras. However, by the end of the trip, my photos were already competing with hers. The 14x optical zoom captured most of the wildlife visible to the naked eye. And even small images exploded in exceptional detail when edited on my laptop. Other photos that were too dark, such as B. Landscapes captured at dusk showed fine detail when shadows and highlights were removed. I got some great shots while my better equipped fellow travelers fiddled with lenses or settings. The video quality was great too. In the end, I was amazed by the convenience and versatility of this little camera. Even our guide was impressed with his skills. The only advantage of large cameras was the ability to capture birds in flight. This was hampered both by the limitations of the LCD compared to SLR viewfinders, and the delay between pressing the button and triggering it. Despite this limitation, the S8200 will remain my go-to travel camera.
