I have 3 rugs in my kitchen that help protect my worktop from damage and heat. I diligently oil my meat block countertops and do my best to keep them looking good and functional. These mats protect my counters from damage caused by pots and pans placed on them. They're thick, non-slip, have a large work area, and hot pots or pans placed on them don't touch them at all. I have (2) black rugs, one on each side of my cooktop and another gray rug next to the sink. Easy to clean with a damp cloth and so far they're holding up great. Highly recommend for your kitchen if you are like me and actively use your kitchen. Some have commented on using them for art tables, I'm sure they hold up well too.
