I had to replace one I had for about 25 years. It was also pressed wood. I think it would have taken another 25 years if my iron hadn't leaked and I didn't know it. Over time it seeped through my very old ironing board cover and eventually the pressed wood began to buckle and my iron would not seat properly. I removed the cover and found the problem. Now I place the iron on the silicone pad. This ironing board looks like it will last me another 25 years. It's well made and the legs fold up for easy storage, just like my previous one. This is a great size for ironing adult clothes. This is better than using ironing pads lying on the table. You can do much better on board shirts.
