The SmartSF 5MP PoE Home Surveillance System is a standalone hard drive-less system. While it doesn't give you much replay if something happens while you're out of town, it works well on a day-to-day basis. We've had people taking packages from the porch in the area recently so I thought it would be helpful. The cameras are pretty solid and solid for a device this cheap, and the wiring, while lame, is just a couple of holes in and out of the device. We decided to only hang one camera on our front door as the others really weren't needed as our house is pretty well shielded from the street except for them. Our front door is quite a distance from the road so someone would have to come to our door on purpose for the system to activate. While the cameras record fairly well when we're standing at the front door, clarity doesn't extend past halfway and without a hard drive it's pointless for out-of-town use.
