My family and I live close by. My ten year old son loves to walk between the houses. We can keep up with him with these walkie-talkies. The range is perfect, the sound is loud and clear. We always know whose house he is in and where he is, and we don't have to keep calling each other to get that information. These walkie-talkies are easy to use, self-explanatory, and my 10-year-old enjoys using them. We take these walkie talkies to the mall and other places in case we get separated or just to give him a little more freedom to be alone. All I have to do is see him when I'm worried or let him know I'm ready to go. I recommend these radios, they are great and worth the money.
