The VXA series tape drives are one of the few economical backup options for systems with very large drives. It's not perfect, but it helps, especially if you're using a system like Dantz Retrospect that supports incremental backup to tape for PC and Mac. Incremental backups let you go back in time like Time Machine in Mac OS X, but without Time Machine's size limitations. You can back up as many tapes as you have space, and the tapes themselves are small. There is only one source for VXA tapes as there are no third party manufacturers for this format. Luckily this is a good product. I've never had a bad thing about me. The drive will automatically remove any (rare) bad spots it finds.
