I wanted something simple - a beep to indicate messages in a car that is out of sight. Does it flawlessly. The only problems are that you lose the settings in the event of a power outage (how much can a backup battery add to the price?) and the setup sequence isn't intuitive and I have to relearn it every time. Fortunately, this is not often the case. If this is connected to a UPS, then this problem disappears. Another thing that contributes to 4 and not 5 stars is that the sound is just ok.
