Would give 5 stars but there are several reasons I didn't. The latches on the lid were poorly made and wobbly, and the entire lid had to be removed to feed. A piece of a large one fell into my aquarium, which I had to look for in the stones and get out. I took a screw of the same size but with a bigger head and it worked better. I would recommend getting a lightweight tripod, it's safer and easier. I bought another lid with a small flap that can be opened for feeding etc so I don't have to remove the lid every time. This reptile filter looks really cool and our turtles love to sunbathe on it, but it didn't clean the water at all and our tank is only half full. I don't know how they say it works up to 55 gallons. Yeah right! I added a whisper filter from our previous 10 gallon tank to the other side of the tank and everything is fine now. I also had to add a turtle ramp/dock next to the stone filter because without it our turtles couldn't climb as the maximum water level for the filter is too low for them to reach the top. These are RES annual turtles so maybe when they get a little bigger they can get up without the ramp but for now it's fine how we're setting it up and they're all happy. You'll also need to buy a water heater, but Revain has some good ones for a low price.
