My AV rack contains many items. Some people don't need refrigeration, some do. The TabloTV device is notorious for generating heat, and since it records saved TV shows on an external hard drive, both devices need to be cooled. I had a small 110 volt consumer fan shown on the back of one of the pictures. Like many small cheap fans, it started making noise and had to be replaced, which I did. But even at this size, it was louder than I wanted. Decided to give this little fan a shot. Since it is powered via USB, it works via a free USB socket on the panel. The hard drive I plugged in is powered from a wall outlet, so we don't overload the Tablo's power supply by doing this. Because this new fan by design can be placed on top of the device and pushes air down while in close proximity to the top of the Tablo device, the air then exits to the hard drive, moving just enough to keep both of them happy ! The additional output on the fan cable (USB connector) is not used for a second fan, but for a low-power remote control repeater. With this fan we now have (2) fewer outlets in the wall, one less for the electric fan, one less for the wall outlet that powers the remote repeater. The assembly is pleasant, the device is silent, well packaged. and welcome to any of my racks that need extra ventilation.
