I bought these for use on wet ice. I have a cabin and the ice is permanent after the first snow. They provide excellent traction and do not interfere with walking on regular surfaces. The compound staircase to the door was also left unmarked. I wouldn't use them for long dry pavement walks, but I wore them to get that and they were good for a short pavement walk. I used them for an hour or so at a time for several days. No problem and they are easy to turn on and off. I have shoe size 11.5 and size XL fits perfectly.
