My dog is 11 years old. She was on a prescription diet for about 6 years due to chronic urinary tract infections and bladder stones (urates). Last year she seemed very old, tired, not playful and withdrawn, didn't want to go out etc. so I decided to try other foods. I did some research on low purine diets, spent an hour in the store reading the ingredients and settled on this one as it best suited my needs. I have to tell you that she is a new dog. She has renewed energy, is playing again, is happy, drinks water and is a happy girl again. The last test showed no crystals in the urine. It should be in January. For another inspection. What surprised me the most was how much water she drinks now. She never drank water and rarely drank it with her prescription meals, but now she drinks water several times a day. While I'm concerned about the stones, there is also something to be said for her quality of life, which has been greatly improved by this meal.
