A while back I got rid of my old Boy Scout style dinnerware and replaced it with some titanium kitchen tools. At first I tried to get by with a multi-purpose cup/pot, but since most of my camping kitchens are made on a small one-burner alcohol stove, I figured if I could heat water while I sip my coffee, I could get to my favorite fishing spot a little quicker reach. I haven't had the chance to use this water heater on a camping trip, but I have heated the water with a spirit lamp. The wide base is a good feature for stability. The pen got quite warm/hot, but I expected that. The weight is minimal and the extra space it takes up in my backpack is negligible as I can pack dry groceries in it.
