GREAT device - make sure the tension is set correctly

Took me a few tries (I wound the line for 3 seconds and checked) but once I got the right tension for the line I was using it was GREAT. I have coils for my Singer 221 Featherweight (metal, with small holes on the sides), Singer 247 (plastic, rounded), Janome 6600 and 9400 (plastic with flat sides) and M coils for my long arm. I REALLY had to adjust the skid plate that holds the spool to allow it to load more line. Take your time adjusting the tension and the coils will wind up perfectly. The language translation of the US English manual is far from perfect, but it's very good if you take the time to figure it out. A photo shows the back of the box with the dimensions of the rolls. I added a transform for 2 dimensions. I'm writing this review because most didn't have enough information to make a choice when I "bought" a winder. I took a chance and ordered this one. A friend's winder only accepts bobbins of the same size with a center hole of the same size. TO THE MANUFACTURER: The addition of some markings on the spool mounting plate for guidance would be a HUGE benefit. (I used a black marker on mine). I also added an arrow to show how the thread is wrapped so I can wrap it multiple times. UPDATE: January 16, 2020 This device continues to work great with my reels. I loosened the tension washer a bit to allow for a more even wrap. FOR QUESTIONS if your spool type will fit: Assuming the inner hole of your spool - what you put on the shaft of this winder - is the same as any other spool, I see no reason why this shouldn't work. I've seen video of this SAME mechanism (no base) as the bobbin winder on some long arm machines. The black "rectangles" are the "visual" sensors that determine when to stop wrapping. You may need to adjust the position if your coils are over or under filled. Be aware that the thread rises and falls over the spool hub as you wind it - if it doesn't, you need to adjust the tension. on the clamping disc. If the thread is twisted at the top, increase the tension on the tension disc.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
