I've had this camera for almost a year now. Yes, there are some "stupid" and "useless" features, but other than that, it can take really great photos. I needed a light and simple travel camera. It's small enough that I could literally wear it diagonally (shoulder to waist) and then zip up my jacket so I can still go to Disney's Tower of Terror. It's not one of those cameras that makes you the "photographer" of a group that can't participate because it's always in the way. That's why it's now my go-to camera for all holidays. (And it's very stable! It definitely needs some "tossing" and general handling. And it looks the same as day one). When we travel I like to go to new bakeries/patisseries/chocolate shops. and take tons of photos of delicious little treats. This camera is sensitive enough to show all the little grains of sugar and artwork clearly and beautifully. Now it's not ideal for close-ups (you'll need to buy another lens for that), but it's good enough (if you have a little patience). Similarly, this Nikon has a few simple 'unnecessary' features that I can make 'work'. Spot color is fun (when used very sparingly), thumbnail is a neat little trick (but the only time I've really found it worth it was at Fenway Park), and the panorama function can produce quite interesting shots when walking slowly and steadily. However, we have never used these images for anything other than our own entertainment. The battery takes a surprisingly long time to charge. Usually not. I don't even have to take my charger with me on vacation (on average it takes about a week between charges). ), could it be. If you are an artist then this camera is definitely not for you. (There are some great posts here to help you make that choice. Count on some of the great reviews). Mmm, and yes, it's as elegant and stunning as it looks. I've received more compliments on it than I can even count. Last summer I was standing in a huge line at Flour + Bakery in Boston's Back Bay and the guy behind the counter stopped the whole procession to ask me about it. So yeah, that's pretty cool too. Much luck!
