This was designed as a makeup mirror but I needed a mirror with a light to help me insert and remove my sclera contact lenses. Unlike soft contact lenses or regular hard contact lenses, scleral lenses are much larger and require you to look straight down when inserting as they must be completely filled with solution. Tilting the lens using the normal tilted mirror position will result in spilling of the solution. Because of this, you cannot use the mirror in its intended form as an upright, slightly tilted vanity mirror. For sclera contact lenses, the mirror must lie flat on a table, vanity, or dresser. I have examined several mirrors which I have found cannot lie flat and neither is this one intended to lie flat, but I was able to turn it upside down and get almost, but not quite, a mirror. It's not ideal for this purpose, but admittedly none of the other lighted mirrors I've found work in the horizontal position either. The lighting for this mirror is not too bright but has a high and low setting. The light is actually ideal, since the insertion of contact lenses does not require too much light anyway. I wish the side mirror lugs could be illuminated as well. I don't use side mirror magnification because when inserting a lens you must aim directly at the cornea of the eye, and the magnification tends to make this an imprecise way of focusing when using the lens insertion tool. The mirror has an on/off button on the front of the mirror, but it doesn't work unless you turn it on first with the button on the back of the mirror, which is annoying. It seems to me that a power button on the front should suffice. I run my mirror with a USB-C cable and it works great. I don't use batteries at all, although he supports them if I want to defect. In general I would like the company to design a mirror specifically for contact lens insertion and not just a makeup mirror, but since I couldn't find such a mirror I was able to get this mirror to work and it seems like a useless product for that purpose . for which it was designed. I like that the side mirrors help catch a falling contact lens if I miss the center of my eye, and wish they had a bottom edge (which is the top edge in my use case) to also help catch the contact lens if she falls on the mirror. It generally works for me, but a lighted mirror that can lie flat would be preferable for inserting a sclera contact lens.
