Great switch for home theater but suitable for KVM applications

I needed a KVM setup for HDMI 4K@60Hz and it's insanely expensive. This was intended to replace my VGA KVM setup, which worked really well but couldn't even come close to driving my full-resolution 4K HDMI monitor. In the end I decided to keep using the VGA KVM switch for keyboard and mouse and get it to switch HDMI. I am very satisfied with this HDMI switch. Works great, didn't give me any problems. The image and connection quality is perfect and reliable even at 4K@60Hz. It does exactly what I need. However, there are a few things to consider. 1) Apparently the monitor and computer don't see the switch as an HDMI endpoint; it's more of a transparent pass-through device. So if you switch inputs from one computer, it appears to that computer as if you unplugged the monitor. It will do what it normally does when you turn off your monitor: switch to another screen, go to sleep, rearrange desktop icons, resize windows, etc. If your computer remembers every single monitor configuration, then if you do too return to this entrance It will return everything as it was. 2) The switch automatically activates the input whenever that input is plugged in or turned on. So if your MacBook is applying updates and you're trying to use a different system, be aware that whenever the MacBook restarts or does something that turns on the HDMI output, this switch will turn you off and switch to that input. .Probably both great features if this switch is used in a home theater setup. But they're not that fantastic when used as part of a KVM switch setup. But I can't call them defects either; They're just good design features optimized for a different use case. And for switching from HDMI 4k@60Hz at this price point, rather than $100, $200, or $1,500 (all with equally crappy reviews), this thing is a brilliant deal. .
