USB-C connection loses contact

The cable seems strong enough, but the USB-C side comes off my MacBook Pro too easily. I can't move my laptop, or I get an error saying I didn't properly disconnect my external drive and then it disappears from my desktop. I bought one of these a few months ago and just solved this problem. A few weeks ago I tried to buy it again hoping the first one was just bad but the new one does the same. I am sending back a new one but the old one is stuck!
