There is no technical support for this issue. You say it is. You need to download VLC player if you want to watch videos. My last Swann DVR from a decade ago was compatible. Good luck sending the video to the police. You get all sorts of funny error messages. MP4 error - video height too short. The AVI error either states that the download failed or using Windows Media Player reports that the codec is missing. How does Swann create a product that is incompatible with most systems in use? I've spent so many hours troubleshooting this system with tech support. They said that this particular problem has no solution. They consider it working since VLC can play movies. They don't care that it can't be played anywhere else. No more Swann products for me. Update: My monitor is now blinking like Christmas as it needs constant updates to keep the camera from losing connection to the network. Updating the cameras to the IT recommended defaults does not work. The NVR software and all cameras have been updated. This system was never intended as a beta test. Update: I'm still trying to get the NVR to work properly. You have to wait an hour every time you call before they say you need level 2 support and they will call you back tomorrow. The problems are endless and never solved.
