Bought to replace a very cheap turntable I bought years ago (from a radio store in Albuquerque). I knew it was something special when I picked up the box that was on the doorstep. A very strong feeling. It's belt-driven, but it has many control settings previously only found on my old direct-drive turntable, including pitch control, skip protection, and tonearm balance; The lever itself appears to be one piece with a die-cast aluminum (not plastic) stylus mount. The base unit is heavy, which is designed to reduce vibration and ensure the records spin smoothly. The pitch control allows me to adjust playback to compensate for belt stretch over time. I've never heard of the Victrola brand but I'm very happy with it and glad I chose this turntable from more established brands.
