When I'm in the field looking for birds, I wear binoculars around my neck and a waist belt with water, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks and field guides. There is no handy smartphone pocket on my hip belt. Being able to carry this bag on one shoulder solved my problem with carrying gear. I use my smartphone to take photos, record, track my path, estimate distance and time, and report sightings of bird species. The bag is perfect for my MotoG7. I can zip up the zipper a bit on one side to better keep the phone in my pocket when walking through bushes, leaning forward, or doing other movements that could cause the phone to fall out of the pocket. It has proven itself well during a month's field work. Assessing strength and durability actually requires more field trips to get an accurate estimate.
