Review on SanDisk 8GB Clip Player Blue by James Richardson

Don't buy this to replace your old Sansa Clip MP3 player!

Attention buyers! If you are purchasing this Sandisk to replace or upgrade your old Sansa Clip 4GB/8GB MP3 player, please note that this model and the Sandisk Clip DO NOT sport internal MP3 storage and a micro SD card switch when you add them to increase this storage capacity! I bought these players to transfer my 16GB MP3 from my old Sansa Clip model to a newer model. I liked my old Sansa Clip because it could switch between two storages regardless of the size of the micro SD card. I can't figure out why Sandisk has NOT kept this basic feature in the newer model? The only way I've found around this design flaw is to buy a larger micro SD card and put ALL your MP3s on it instead of using the MP3 player's internal storage and then you can Mix ALL your music! If you're still buying this MP3 player, don't worry about shelling out the extra $$ for an 8GB player, spend your $$ on a larger micro SD card!Update: July 14, 2017 Me recently discovered another software limitation on SanDisk MP3 players. In addition to the above internal/external storage issue. SanDisk MP3 players are limited to 2000 songs, regardless of the storage capacity added. I bought a 16GB micro SD card, added over 3000 songs and loaded them into the player, assuming the player would display/read ALL the songs when using the external storage shuffle mode. NOT CORRECT! However, you can access the folders/files and play those specific folders/files, the 2000 limit still applies. I'm an avid MP3 user and I can't understand the contradiction between designing an MP3 player and being able to add 32GB of extra storage without having full access to ALL the songs. Most MP3 users buy a player specifically for listening to their MP3s, especially those with a shuffle function. I thought I found a "fix" for the internal/external limit above, only to find that I still can't fully access all my songs in the external storage. In my opinion, SanDisk needs to remove these limitations in order to make their MP3 players the best out there. If you are looking for an MP3 player with a 4000 track limit, check out AGPTEK players. They support up to 64GB, double the songs and Bluetooth for less.

Pros
  • Up to 18 hours of battery life (Based on continuous 128kbps MP3 playback. Actual life and performance may vary with use and settings; battery is not replaceable.)
Cons
  • Can't remember, but there was something
