Review on Disney Frozen II Plastic Toddler Bed by Delta Children by Ronny Prather

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sturdy bed but very poor mattress support which can be fixed with a third party slat system

The bed is very stable but only has three thin metal bars to support the mattress, one at the head end, one in the middle and one at the foot. If you have a mattress like ours (memory foam crib mattress) that doesn't have an internal wooden frame or coil springs, the mattress will sag a lot because the mesh fabric that holds the mattress to the ground stretches and the center crossbar flexes so that the child sinks head and feet and is uncomfortably supported by the center bar. You need a slatted system that can support the mattress evenly around the perimeter. Other delta (wooden) cribs seem to have slats from what I can tell from their building instructions, but these plastic/metal cribs don't. For $20 more, you can buy wooden beds if your mattress doesn't have a wooden frame or inner support; You can always find Anna and Elsa stickers to make them a themed bed. As I had already bought two of these plastic/metal themed beds and the kids fell in love with their look I decided to keep them and solved the problem by screwing on the matching bed. board system. I used the Ikea Luroy Bed Plank Set ($10) and screwed each plank to create a flat surface. I used #12 stainless steel pan head screws. It turned out to be easier than I thought, although I had to use an 11/64 bit to drill pilot holes in the metal and wood planks. See attached picture. I'm sure someone smarter than me can come up with a more elegant solution!
