I wouldn't say it necessarily shows "blind spots" but for me it shows me most of the road behind me and a little further down the road and as long as I have my side mirrors adjusted correctly it works great. I can set it where it's right, when the car pulls out of lane they show up in my side mirror, which I had a hard time with the stock unit. I drive in traffic all the time and that makes a big difference compared to the stock, but then again I can't say it covers blind spots just by looking in the rearview mirror.
